Sunbonnet Sue Ornament Angels

I made my light box out of my coffee table and an ottlite.
I was able to copy the picture onto the cotton in this way.  Cotton stretches so no two of these are going to be the same.  Which is probably a good thing.
Here is a picture of the first one..  I went into great detail with it.  There other 2 aren't that well done.
The pencil was blue, so I hope it washes out.  Now comes the fun.  Embroidery is all going to be in red so I chose #141 Devil red since that is what I had the most of.

Sunbonnet Sue Ornament Angels

I am going to make the angel ornaments from this book.  They are what is called "Redwork".  The embroidery is all done in Red.
Here is a picture of what they are supposed to look like when complete.  This is something new for me.

My supplies so far.  I have to work on some sort of light box so I can transfer the pattern to the material.  I have a glass coffee table, so I just have to get a light under it.  I forgot the red thread oops.

Here is a link to purchase this book.

Frilly Knit Scarf

Red Heart Boutique Sashay

I decided to to the longer scarf with only 6 stitches.  This has been something really new.  The pattern said to pick up stitches by putting the needle from back to front 6 times. The stitches being the top 2 threads of the braid.  Then you just knit and keep turning.

The front side and the back side look exactly the same.  I was able to make 8 inches in 20 minutes.

I finally figured out how to hide the ends.  It didn't turn out as long as the pattern said.  I probably knitted too loosely.  The finished length is 44 inches not 62.
I am still pleased with the finished project.  It took 2 hours and 45 minutes to complete.  If you need a really fast gift this would be it.

NOTE: This pattern is on the Red Heart Sashay Yarn label.

Frilly Knit Scarf

Red Heart Boutique Sashay

Today's project is going to be the Scarf pattern on the back of the wrapper for this yarn.
The color name is JIVE.  You are supposed to us 5.5mm knitting needles or US 9.  I happen to find 51/2 mm in my stash of knitting needles.
I first saw this type of scarf at the fair.  I fell in love with it.  So this will be my first attempt at making one.
I love this color.  Interesting thread.  Can't wait to start.

Cro-Tat Snowflakes
Cro-Tat is a combination of crochet and tatting using a crochet hook that is longer then normal and does not have any changes in the shaft.  Tatting in Japan is done on these long crochet hooks.

It's Saturday and I finished the tat-along mat a little while ago.
I used a size 30 (correction the thread size is actually size 10) Aunt Lydia Crochet Cotton in White.  The finished size before blocking is 11 1/2 inches.

It will probably be 12 inches when I get it blocked.
The time I have invested in this doily is 15 hours.

Happy Friday everyone.  I did too much yesterday.  3 hours on my Crowning Touch doily and another hour on the tat-along lace mat.  Here are pictures of both.

This is the doily I have been working on since March.

"Crowning Touch"

Pattern in "Elegant Tatting Patterns"

Each point is a little over 3 hours of work.  There are 2 more rows after I get all eight points on the doily.

I wanted to get a whole point on yesterday, before I forgot where to join.  I've messed up the last 2 points by forgetting to join where needed.  You can see my threads that I am going to have to hide.

It took me an hour to make one repeat.  Six more repeats to go.  It's not a perfect as I would like, but I am learning something new.

I used a lock join to join the picot on the flip side in the 5 ring clover section. I don't know if that is the correct way, but it worked.  I did twist the picot the first time.

I couldn't go to sleep last night, so I started to work on the last row.  I am new to split rings, so they are not turning out very even.  The 5 loop combination is definately a challenge.  (I love it).

Here is a close up of the first  loop of the 5.  I stopped there because I didn't want to mess it up with my foggy brain..

I messed up which way I went in the beginning so my starting chain is going to be twisted.
